Rebels In Position to Earn Trip to NCAA Golf Championships

The Rebels were in second place after two rounds and in position to advance to the NCAA Golf Championships. The No. 17 UNLV men’s golf team shot a second-round 2-under-par 286 on Tuesday and is in second place after 36 holes at the 2017 NCAA West Lafayette Regional, which was being played at Kampen Golf Course (par 72, 7,411 yards). The top five teams advance.

Individually, Illinois State’s Trent Wallace leads the tournament by a shot at 6-under 138 after a second-round 2-under. UNLV junior Shintaro Ban and New Mexico’s Andrej Bevins are both tied for second at 5-under, while Rebel junior John Oda and New Mexico’s Andre Garcia are both tied for fourth at 4-under. Ban shot 3-under (four birdies, one bogey) on Tuesday, while Oda was 1-over.

Other Rebels: sophomore Harry Hall is tied for 10th at 1-under 143 after a second-round 2-under, freshman Justin Kim is tied for 42nd at 7-over 151 after a second-round 2-over and senior Taylor Montgomery is tied for 58th at 10-over 154 after a second-round 5-over.
